NOTE:
If you experience difficulties in printing the results of computations, follow the steps below to resolve the problem.
First check the Toolbox program defaults to confirm that the printer is set for black & white printing. This needs to be done after a computation has been performed in one of the four programs in Toolbox.
Steps
1. From within any Toolbox program, select the File tab.
2. Choose Printer Set.
3. Click on the Properties box.
4. Verify that the color settings are
Black & White.
If this does not resolve the problem, adjust the printer properties in Windows so that the printer will print in Black & White mode.
Steps
1. Click on Start menu.
2. Choose Settings command.
3. Choose Printer and Faxes.
4. Right click on your default printer.
5. Go to Printer Preferences command in
the pull down menu that appears.
6. Select the Paper/Quality tab.
7. Select Black & White printing*.
* Note - This will cause your printer to print only black & white until it is reset as color.
NCPI Toolbox
NCPI Toolbox 2005 Version 2.0
Thank you for your interest in this package of design tools provided by the National Clay Pipe Institute. Our goal is to promote the use of clay pipe products by providing technical information and support to those involved in the Design, Construction and Maintenance of sanitary sewer systems. We also engage in field, laboratory, university and other contract research with a goal of continuously improving the manufacture and installation of Vitrified Clay Pipe.
NCPI "Toolbox" is four NCPI developed computer programs to aid engineers.
The "Toolbox" Contains:
"Ease" is a trench load design program incorporating Marston's equations and the latest ASTM requirements. The program allows the design engineer to enter specific design criteria for a pipe installation and select a trench/bedding system which will provide an appropriate design safety factor.
"Bedcost" provides the opportunity to compare the cost of different bedding materials when placed in accordance with ASTM standards for VCP or alternate materials.
"Hyflow" utilizes Manning's open channel flow equations to determine hydraulic solutions. By entering the desired flow rate and slope, the recommended pipe diameter with depth of flow is instantly displayed. Solutions may also be obtained in metric units.
"Lowcost" uses historic inflation and interest rate ratios in life cycle analysis to determine the life cycle savings, set aside requirements and future replacement costs of alternative products with different useful life expectancies.
