National Clay Pipe Institute has been involved in research and the development of technology related to the manufacturing, design, installation and operation of Vitrified Clay Pipe systems. This area contains the tools and information developed for the engineering community relating to VCP installation and design.
Listed is a brief description of the materials available.
The titles and scope of each current standard is listed on this page. Due to ASTM regulations and copy right restrictions, we may only distribute hard copies of the full standards and not electronic versions. For electronic versions of these standards, please go to the ASTM website.
This manual, published by the National Clay Pipe Institute, contains engineering reference data applicable to the design and construction of sanitary sewer systems. Included is information on hydraulics of sewers and drains, sewer pipe selection in relation to corrosion, structural analysis and design of rigid conduits underground and trench load tables based on Marston's formula.
The following terms relate to the installation and use of Vitrified Clay Pipe. Many of these terms are used in reference to all pipe installations while some are specific to VCP installations. These terms can be found in ASTM C 896 - Standard Terminology Relating to Clay Products.
This booklet is a discussion of all phases of sewer line excavation, installation, backfilling and testing for vitrified clay sewer pipe. A handy reference booklet for the pipe installer, crew foreman and sewer inspector.
Magazine articles published in trade publications on topics that range from Asset Management to Trenchless Technology.
A newsletter published by NCPI that is based primarily on case histories and promotional articles.
These documents are single page technical briefs based on common questions received by the clay pipe industry. For more detailed information, Contact the NCPI Technical Representative in your area.
A collection of papers published by the Clay Pipe industry detailing many aspects of the design and installation of VCP sanitary sewers. Also posted are other technical papers presented at conferences dealing with the wastewater treatment and collection systems.
National Clay Pipe is often asked questions about various aspects of VCP Installation practices. These documents are compilations of various pieces of literature geared towards some of the questions that have been raised over the years.
